there's a paninaro amiga cover that was made in 1989 that has some surprisingly clean vocal samples

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:16

flagKupororeal

Lol

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:16

would you think "wow that's an amazing, transgressive industrial track" or would you think "that's just very low-quality, improperly filtered samples"

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:16

there you go, you know the stuff. now if i did a tracker song with my own samples (TO AVOID COPYRIGHT LAW) and they were hissy, beacuse i recorded them in my garage

flagmirrorbird

I remember there being one bizarre module from 1989

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:15

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:15

Kup: i read an interesting book "Assimilate: A Critical History Of Industrial Music" by A. Reid (he was in the good goth band ThouShaltNot), he wrote a lot about early industro recording and...

if tracker stuff sounded bad it was (i suppose) either bc the sound had been crunched down (Hz loss) or issues like "click on loop" where the sample just wasn't done right

flagKupororeal
13 May 2024 00:14

I think on their first release they actually went into a factory and just recorded the sounds there to use as samples lol

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:13

trackers were just doing the stuff you had to do previously with physical tape, or synth loops in tiny RAM

flagKupororeal
13 May 2024 00:13

Because of the crusty protracker sound

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:13

i put your name on it.

flagKupororeal
13 May 2024 00:13

Yeah there was so much tracker speedcore being Churned out around that time that it was nicknamed "Cheapcore"

flagmirrorbird
13 May 2024 00:13
